Descriptions of Conservation Supplies

All conservation supplies may be purchased at the district office during regular business hours throughout the year.
January – May; Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June – September; Tuesday – Friday, same hours (Closed on Mondays)

Bat Houses Single chamber holds approximately 100 bats, triple chamber up to 300 bats. Weather resistant cedar built to Organization of Bat Conservation specifications. Single chamber $34.00, Triple chamber $40.00.

Bluebird Houses Made locally of weather resistant cedar. $20.00. Sale $16.00 while supplies last.

Coco fiber tree collars Approximately 17 inches in diameter. The center hole can accommodate a tree caliper up to 4 inches. The coco Fiber Tree Collars greatly reduce moisture loss through dry summer months. You can expect virtually no weed competition for the first 1.5 to 2 years, after which the collar will slowly expand and breakdown while still maintaining some control for another year. $1.50 each.

"Deep Water" Signs 12" x 9" heavy white plastic with red letters. $4.00 each.

Fertilizer Tablets Compressed, 10-gram, nutrient rich starter tablets supply all the nitrogen, phosphorus an potash needed by seedlings for 2 years. More nutrients released during growing season when bacterial activity is greatest. Very little is released during dormant season. Use 1 tablet per seedling or transplant. $.15 each. 1 tablet per plant.

Flags 4x5” fluorescent orange plastic on a 36” wire. 10 for $2.00. 25 for $5.00. 50 for $9.00. 100 for $15.00.

Mosquito Barrier All natural garlic concentrate repellent, safe for children, pets, and aquatic life. One quart will cover 1.25 acres; one gallon will cover 5 acres. Mixes with water and applied as a spray with a pressurized hand-held or backpack type sprayer. Very effective. 1 quart $23.75. 1 gallon $75.50.

Plant Markers Galvanized steel wire with zinc labels, 10" tall. Labeling area is 1" x 2-5/8" is firmly attached to the wires. Great for perennial beds. $0.50.

Plantskydd Animal Repellent This 100% natural repellent lasts 6 month in winter, 3-4 months in summer. Animals associate the odor with predator activity. A soluble powder or ready to use liquid. One-quart liquid spray protects 80 to 100 one foot high plants; 1 lb. soluble powder treats 300 to 400 one foot high plants, applied as a spray with a pressurized hand-held or backpack type sprayer. Use for deer or rabbits. Best applied before browsing begins. 1 quart liquid spray bottle $22.00. 1 pound box soluble powder $25.00. 5 quart liquid jug $40.00.

Root Dip (TerraSorb™) A powder developed specifically for moisture retention. When mixed with water this gel clings to a plant's roots. A 2- ounce bag will treat about 2,000 seedlings; fewer transplants or plants with larger root masses. May also be used for container gardening. $2.00 for 2 oz. bag.

Tree Planting Bars A fast, convenient way to plant seedlings. Tubular steel handle and shaft with wedge-shaped blade makes the hole just the right size. Not recommended for transplants. $27.00.

"Trees Planted" Signs 7 ˝ x11" of heavy aluminum, black printing on bright orange or yellow. $2.50.

Weed Fabric Squares A porous polypropylene fabric allows air, water & nutrients to pass through while controlling weed growth. Five staples for each mat is included to anchor mat to soil. 10 for $12.50.

American Mix Wildflower Seeds 1 oz. packet containing 9 perennials and 11 annuals. Covers 250 square feet. $5.60.

Hummingbird Mix Wildflower Seeds ˝ oz packet containing 7 perennials and 4 annual/biennials. Covers 100 square feet. $5.60.
