Nut Packet

Asian Chestnut - 20' high with a rounded dense crown. Will tolerate droughty soil, but not shade. Fast growing, short lived. Produces edible nuts in the fall.


Black Walnut - Juglans nigra: nigra: 75 to 90' high with open rounded crown. Slow to medium growth in well-drained soils, loam to clay loam, full sun. Produces nuts late August to late September.



       Hazelnut - 8-10' tall, prefers well-drained, but not dry soil and full sun. Provides cover for ruffed grouse, rabbits and wood cock. Nuts are edible. Colonizes and spreads to form thickets.
